Properties: Sodium acetate trihydrate is a colorless, odorless crystal. It is easily efflorescent in air, soluble in water and ethanol, and slightly soluble in acetic acid. Specific gravity 1.45, melting point 58°C.
Uses: Sodium acetate is a chemical raw material used in printing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, chemical reagents, industrial catalysts, auxiliaries, additives, and preservatives. It is also widely used as an antifreeze in the coal industry and as a deicing agent for major roads and airports in winter.
